Job Description - Lead Telecommunication Engineer Title: Lead Telecommunication Engineer Company: KBR - Inhouse Engineering Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE - KBR Office Key Consideration: Preference will be given to candidates holding valid OPITO-approved T-BOSIET/BOSIET and H₂S certifications with a minimum validity of six months. The selected candidate will be required to travel ADNOC offshore on a rotational basis to conduct site surveys, support brownfield assessments, verify existing installations, and obtain project-specific engineering data necessary for design and execution. Job Purpose Lead, direct, and oversee all Telecommunication engineering activities for onshore and offshore oil & gas developments across the full project lifecycle, including Concept Studies, FEED, and Detailed Engineering. Serve as the discipline technical authority, providing engineering leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, maintainable, and cost-effective telecom system solutions that comply with client requirements, applicable standards, project schedules, and quality expectations. Act as the focal point for telecommunication and security systems while facilitating effective multidisciplinary coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership for telecom engineering during FEED and Detailed Engineering of onshore and offshore oil & gas facilities. Develop telecom system architectures, design philosophies, specifications, and implementation-ready engineering deliverables in compliance with ADNOC standards and international codes. Perform site surveys, brownfield assessments, telecom adequacy studies, and evaluations of existing telecom infrastructure to define upgrade, expansion, and integration requirements. Design and integrate telecommunications systems including: Fiber Optic, SDH, OTN, DWDM, and Ethernet Networks LAN/WAN Systems HF/VHF/UHF/TETRA Radio Systems CCTV Systems Access Control Systems PA/GA Systems Telephone and Information Systems Wireless Communication and Structured Cabling Systems Prepare and review telecom engineering deliverables, including design basis documents, philosophies, system architectures, specifications, datasheets, layouts, cable schedules, tie-in documents, and material take-offs. Perform and review telecom studies, including network capacity assessments, fiber optic calculations, radio and CCTV coverage studies, power consumption, and heat dissipation analyses. Develop telecom interfaces between telecom, IT, control, F&G, and security systems. Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications, and applicable international standards. Participate in design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, constructability reviews, value engineering, and risk assessment workshops. Provide technical support during procurement, vendor evaluation, system integration, construction, commissioning, and project handover. Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance across all engineering activities. Interface effectively with Project Management, Engineering Management, Clients, Operations teams, and Vendors to achieve successful project delivery. Review, approve, and monitor engineering deliverables prepared by discipline
