Commercial Property Analyst Job Description The Commercial Property Analyst supports the development, quality and analytical application of CoStar's commercial real estate data across the Australian market. Working closely with research, product and commercial teams, the role is responsible for validating, enhancing and analysing a broad range of commercial property datasets across the CoStar platform. This includes property, ownership, tenant, leasing, transaction, development and market intelligence data. The Commercial Property Analyst helps improve data quality, supports analytical initiatives and provides the research, market intelligence and analysis that underpin CoStar Australia's commercial insights, reporting and thought leadership. The role also contributes to market commentary, client-facing content and industry engagement opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Analyse, validate and enhance commercial real estate datasets across the CoStar platform. Support the collection, quality assurance and maintenance of commercial property data, including property, ownership, tenant, leasing, sales transaction, development and market activity information. Monitor data quality and develop processes to improve the accuracy, completeness and consistency of commercial property information. Build dashboards, reports and analytical tools to measure data quality, market coverage and key performance metrics. Develop and implement quality assurance processes and feedback loops to improve data collection and validation. Partner with research, product and commercial teams to improve data systems, workflows and analytical capabilities. Support the development, testing and enhancement of datasets, products and platform functionality. Conduct analysis of commercial property market activity and trends, translating findings into clear and actionable market insights. Support the Chief Commercial Economist through the preparation of market analysis, datasets, reporting and research materials. Contribute to commercial property market reports, presentations and thought leadership initiatives through high-quality analysis and market intelligence. Support media requests, client presentations, webinars and industry events through the preparation of analysis and market commentary. Represent CoStar at client and industry events where appropriate. Contribute to projects that improve data collection, automation, analyst productivity and operational efficiency.
About You
Bachelor's degree in economics, Property, Finance, Statistics, Data Analytics, Commerce or a related discipline. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Experience working with large and complex datasets. Advanced Excel skills. Experience using SQL, Power BI, Tableau or similar analytical and visualisation tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate data-driven insights to technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to synthesise data and communicate market insights clearly and concisely. Strong written communication skills with the ability to develop market commentary and research content. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams. Desirable Experience in commercial real estate, property research, economics, valuation, investment analysis, market intelligence or analytics. Understanding of commercial real estate concepts including leasing markets, investment transactions, ownership structures, occupancy, development activity, valuations, yields and broader market fundamentals. Experience using Python, R or similar analytical tools. Experience building dashboards, reports and data visualisations. Knowledge of Australian commercial property markets. Experience contributing to research publications, market reports or external communications. Experience presenting insights to clients, stakeholders or industry audiences.
