About this role

Corporate & Investment Banking (“CIB”) delivers a comprehensive suite of capital markets, banking, and financial products and services. A trusted partner to our clients, we provide corporate and transactional banking; commercial real estate lending and servicing; investment banking; equity; and fixed income solutions including sales, trading, and research capabilities to corporate, commercial real estate, government, and institutional clients across the globe. About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Corporate Banking Associate to support CIB Banking’s Energy & Power Project Finance Portfolio Management team, which manages a growing loan portfolio with significant activity, including refinancings, project finance monitoring, waivers, and amendments. Wells Fargo’s growing Renewables & Asset Finance (“RAF”) business is an integral part of the Power, Utilities & Renewables (“PUR”) group within Energy & Power, providing financing, capital markets and advisory services to corporate clients across the Americas. Our coverage universe includes renewable developers, independent power producers, infrastructure and private equity funds, and utilities globally, supporting lending activity across renewables, thermal generation, midstream, and broader energy infrastructure assets. The PUR group is a market-leading franchise in the sector, including top ranked positions in the equity and debt capital markets league tables. In this role, you will: Own the day-to-day management of an assigned portfolio of loans originated by the RAF team, including structured financings such as construction, operating, and warehouse facilities, as well as corporate Holdco financings. Support credit underwriting for an assigned portfolio of accounts, including building and reviewing complex models and performing detailed financial & credit analysis. Perform monthly monitoring of operating & construction financings for renewable assets (wind, solar, and energy storage), including reviewing operating reports as well as progress and monthly construction draws. Oversee coordination with operational teams for all day-to-day activity for the loans, including draws and issuances of Letters of Credit, and support resolution of items escalated. Review and interpret credit policies and procedures and incorporate requirements into credit analysis, observations and monitoring. Support all credit monitoring work including annual reviews, status updates and focus reviews for the assigned portfolio, accounting for all risk factors and forming and defending risk rating recommendations with oversight from the Portfolio Manager; provide support for audits. Manage communication between Borrowers and the syndicate of lenders for transactions where we act as Administrative Agent, in collaboration with the Leveraged Finance team. Review credit agreements with internal and external counsel, and support the analysis and review of project documents including but not limited to Consultant Reports, Power Purchase Agreements, Operations & Maintenance reports; develop recommendations on waivers, amendments and consents. Review the work of Analysts — including models, credit write-ups and monitoring deliverables — before submission to the Portfolio Manager. Direct, train and develop Analysts on the team, including allocating workstreams and providing performance feedback. Represent the bank in maintaining relationships with clients. Collaborate and consult with peers, internal partners and stakeholders, including clients. Support regular reporting to credit and senior management on the portfolio, in collaboration with more senior staff – including but not limited to oversight of the transaction databases and comps maintained for the team.
