About this role
At Amazon, we are working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. A customer’s ability to pay the way they want—quickly, securely, and with a method they trust—is fundamental to that mission. In many markets across the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia Pacific, customers prefer local payment methods : domestic card schemes, bank transfers, wallets and cash-on-delivery, . When these methods are missing, hard to use, or fail at checkout, customers abandon their purchase and lose trust. That is the problem this role exists to solve. As the Senior Product Manager for Payment Acceptance & Experience, you will own the strategy and roadmap for how customers across MENA and APAC pay on Amazon using local payment methods. You will be responsible for expanding acceptance of the right methods in the right markets, and for making every one of those payment experiences fast, reliable, and delightful—from the moment a customer selects a payment option through authorization, retries, and confirmation. You will work backwards from customer needs, dive deep into payment performance data, and partner across engineering, design, finance, legal, and regional teams to deliver measurable improvements in acceptance rates, checkout conversion, and customer satisfaction. This is a high-ownership, high-impact role at the intersection of product, payments, and regional expansion. You will operate in a complex regulatory and technical landscape—navigating domestic scheme mandates, acquirer and processor relationships, and market-specific customer behavior—while keeping the bar high on simplicity for the customer. Success is measured by more customers being able to pay the way they want, with fewer failures, in more markets. Key job responsibilities Own the strategy and roadmap for expanding acceptance of local payment methods (domestic card schemes, wallets, bank transfers, installments, and cash-based options) across priority MENA and APAC markets. Define and improve the end-to-end customer payment experience—method selection, authentication, authorization, retries, and confirmation—optimizing for speed, reliability, and simplicity. Analyze payment performance deeply: monitor authorization and acceptance rates, decline reasons, and failure patterns by method, market, issuer, and processor, and turn insights into prioritized improvements. Partner cross-functionally with engineering, design, finance, legal, compliance, and regional business teams to deliver launches and experience improvements on time and to a high bar. Drive the introduction of new local payment methods and acquirer/processor integrations, from opportunity sizing and business case through launch, live validation, and scaling. Translate domestic scheme mandates and regulatory requirements into clear product requirements, balancing compliance obligations with customer experience. Write crisp written documents (PR/FAQs, business cases, and narratives) and align senior leaders on strategy, trade-offs, and investment. Define and measure success with clear metrics—acceptance/authorization rates, checkout conversion, payment success, cost per transaction, and customer satisfaction—and hold the team accountable to them.
