Hei Oranga Iwi | The opportunity Join EY’s Transaction Tax Advisory team in Auckland and play a key role in some of New Zealand’s most significant and strategically important transactions. Working alongside experienced EY professionals and senior client stakeholders, you will advise leading organisations, fast-growing businesses, private equity firms and infrastructure investors on the tax considerations that shape investment, growth and transformation decisions. As part of EY’s International Tax and Transaction Services practice, our International tax team provides high value-additive consulting services to both New Zealand and Global clients around all aspects of conducing cross-border commerce. This role offers exposure to a broad range of complex and high-impact engagements, providing the opportunity to deepen your technical expertise, build trusted client relationships and work in a dynamic, market leading team. This will accelerate your career within a collaborative and supportive environment. This is a full-time position, with Auckland as the preferred location. However, we are open to considering candidates based in Wellington or Christchurch for the right individual. Ko Tō Rourou | Your key responsibilities As a Senior Consultant, you will apply your New Zealand tax knowledge to many client engagements and work collaboratively with colleagues and clients. You will help analyse complex matters, communicate practical insights and support the effective delivery of projects.
Advise New Zealand Groups in respect of all aspects of managing the tax implications of maintaining, expanding or reorganising their global footprint Advise large globally parented multinational groups in respect of their New Zealand business and local equity participations. Develop deep expertise in all aspects of international tax, including transactions and reorganisations, cross-border income flows, cross-border controversy management and global effective tax rate management. Translate complex tax concepts into clear, concise and practical advice for client stakeholders and other members of the engagement team. Support the delivery of engagements by coordinating project activities, managing priorities and budgets, and contributing to the development of colleagues.
Ngā Pūkenga | Skills and attributes for success You will bring relevant professional experience, sound technical judgement and an ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders. Direct international tax experience would be valuable, but we also welcome applications from people with strong New Zealand tax capability who are interested in developing as international tax advisers.
Relevant experience in a New Zealand tax, accounting, legal or consulting environment, with a strong foundation in New Zealand taxation. Demonstrated technical capability gained through tax compliance, analysis of complex tax matters or investigation of historical tax exposures. Experience in international tax aspects as part of this is beneficial but is not essential. The ability to explain technical tax concepts clearly and succinctly, tailoring your communication to the needs of clients and colleagues. Strong project management and organisational skills, including experience managing budgets, competing priorities and the contribution of others.
