The Service Manager is responsible for the customer-focused and efficient operation of the dealership's service department. The service manager will operate the department at maximum production, controlling costs, building a loyal clientele, maintaining good employee relationships, setting and obtaining sales objectives and maintaining service records. The Service Manager is responsible for ensuring a customer experience that meets or exceeds the manufacturer’s customer satisfaction index and for monitoring and improving customer satisfaction. The service manager also carries out this responsibility by building customer relationships, creating a good work environment and properly managing the assets of the department. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Support service and sales staff across all operational areas. Schedule and manage departmental staff and workflow. Identify and execute service operation improvements in areas such as scheduling, dispatch, repair execution, and van/tool handling. Review service forecasts and align staffing and productivity accordingly. Conduct daily stand-up meetings with service and parts teams. Lead and support all department staff, including technical assistance. Create and implement standard operating procedures for store and fleet service operations. Monitor staffing levels, compensation structures, and employee turnover. Manage and grow the technician workforce with a focus on skill development, efficiency, and scheduling. Collaborate daily with the sales, fleet, parts and service teams to ensure operational alignment. Oversee the performance of Repair Production Representatives, Dispatchers, and support staff to grow repair order volume. Ensure accuracy related to duplicate (Tools to CDK) RO processing. Ensure seamless repair order flow across fleet, retail, and franchise operations. Manage accounts receivable related to service work. Serve as the escalation point for customer service issues, offering proactive solutions. Cultivate strong customer relationships to foster repeat and referral business. Report any activities or issues that may compromise dealership integrity. Document employee behavior for any actions that may warrant coaching and/or disciplinary measures, including termination. Enforce adherence to safety policies and ensure prompt accident reporting. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and hazardous waste handling. Secure competitive bids for tools, equipment, repairs, and supplies. Ensure proper functionality of all shop equipment. Maintain updated technical documentation, bulletins, and service publications. Conduct quality control checks on completed service jobs. Conduct monthly reviews with the After-Sales Director (ASD) and weekly check-ins with the General Manager (GM). Maintain all required reporting systems for the GM, company, and manufacturer. Build partnerships with vocational and technical schools to support recruiting efforts. Optimize coverage and performance of AutoNation Mobile Service vans. Contribute to the development and execution of the annual service budget and sales forecast. Oversee the parts department, ensuring optimal inventory levels and turn performance. Set and maintain purchasing policies, including order codes and inventory guidelines. Monitor
