About the Role
The Validation Physicist works within the Validation Team supporting Process Analytics Instrumentation. The role contributes to factory and field-based calibration activities, analyser development, feasibility studies and continuous improvement of calibration methods and analysis tools. Generate calibration models for Process Analytics Instrumentation by running samples, deriving optimum calibration models and preparing final reports. Support the Applications team with feasibility studies for potential new customer applications and identify opportunities to improve calibration processes and techniques.
What You'll Do
Perform factory calibration of PGNAA elemental analysers. Contribute to ongoing moisture and PGNAA analyser development. Prepare calibration reports and master the methods and techniques required for analysis. Perform feasibility studies on project sample suites and prepare reports. Improve and simplify analysis tools to reduce calibration time. Work to ISO 9001 QMS and documentation control standards. Act as Deputy Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), assisting with handling, testing, packing, receiving and shipment of sources and associated regulatory documentation.
Education
Bachelor of Science in Physics, or a related field, required.
Experience
Experience analysing data for physical trends and using data analysis tools. Experience with statistical and numerical data analysis. Laboratory data recording and data handling experience. Experience modelling real-world application data is an advantage. Global experience supporting excellent communication skills. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Well-developed understanding of fundamental physical principles and their application to real-life situations. MATLAB programming knowledge, or knowledge of another structured programming language would be advantageous Proficiency in data analysis tools and ability to develop new analysis tools. Radiation and dangerous goods (DG) use and handling licences, or willingness to obtain them. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Self-motivated; able to work with limited supervision, prioritise workload and meet expectations. Ability to work effectively in a team and guide colleagues in experiments or feasibility studies. Knowledge of microwave measurement and propagation, PGNAA, ultrasonic attenuation, X-ray fluorescence (XRF), or gamma ray attenuation is a distinct advantage. Other Important Information Some out-of-hours work may be required.
