Position

Summary: An Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Intern at Crane Resistoflex is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations by identifying workplace hazards, improving safety performance, and reducing environmental impacts across the facility. This role works closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to evaluate processes, recommend improvements, and implement projects that enhance employee safety, environmental stewardship, productivity, and operational efficiency. They will also own larger cost reduction projects from ideation, feasibility and design, Capital Expenditure approval, and implementation. The EHS Intern will drive continuous improvement initiatives, conduct risk assessments, support environmental sustainability efforts, and ensure safe work practices are incorporated into manufacturing operations. Lead/Support quality improvement initiatives as per IATF 16949-2016 to achieve set sigma level for value stream. Guide production team on issue resolution using knowledge relevant to your department specialties.  Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to): Design and implement improvements to production processes and controls. Develop improvements to manufacturing methods to improve safety, reduce cost, or increase productivity. Conduct safety audits, inspections, ergonomic evaluations, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. Partner with operations and engineering teams to proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with equipment, processes, and facility operations. Research and develop opportunities to reduce workplace risks, improve operational efficiency, and support sustainability goals. Aid operations in ensuring parts are safely fabricated in accordance with product specifications. Analyze processes for safety, quality, and efficiency opportunities. Resolve quality issues, identify trends, determine root causes, and take corrective actions. Improve manufacturing process to reduce process variability and increase yields. Represent engineering as part of a cross-functional team including safety, quality, and operations. Prioritize and execute projects within the agreed upon timeline and provide updates on project status. Take ownership of projects and execute through design, fabrication, implementation, and sustainment. Participate in week-long team-based problem solving / continuous improvement events. Develop and manage action plans for long term projects through completion. Research and develop high value cost saving opportunities and use data to project savings that justify any necessary capital expenditure. Participate in quality improvements as per IATF 16949 2016 ensure to complete toll gates for DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, Process capability study for in house process Ensure requirements of relevant standards like ISO 9001-2015, PED 2014/68/EU, API Spec. Q1, API 6D, etc. are being consistently met and improved.  Essential Qualifications / Experience: In progress of achieving B.S. in Environmental Health, Engineering, or related degree. Problem solving and root cause analysis skills. Ability to work hands on in a manufacturing environment and engage effectively with employees at all levels. Proficient with 2D and 3D CAD software Preferred Qualifications/Experience Exposure to lean manufacturing and 5S practices. Proficient with data analysis, statistics, and applied mathematics. Demonstrated ability to understand process & product specifications. Basic understanding of industrial assembly, fabrication, and machining processes.
