Senior Backend Engineer, Enterprise Applications

Unity runs its finance operations across a large connected system landscape, Workday as the financial system of record, alongside NetSuite, Zuora, Salesforce, and a range of AP, tax and revenue platforms. The Enterprise Applications team builds and owns the services and data pipelines that move money-critical data between them: invoices, refunds, credit memos, payments, revenue and vendor spend. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build those integrations. This is a backend engineering role first, you will be writing TypeScript services on GCP, designing APIs and event-driven pipelines, and owning them in production. The domain is finance, which means the correctness bar is high. Much of this landscape is being rebuilt. Legacy iPaaS recipes are being replaced with TypeScript services we design ourselves, and you will have real latitude over how that happens. In your first months you will own an existing production integration end to end; within the year you will be shaping the standards the rest of the team builds to. You will work directly with Finance, IT and platform teams, and your work is visible at the top of the finance organisation. What you’ll be doing Design, build and operate backend services connecting Workday with upstream and downstream financial systems. NetSuite, Zuora, Salesforce, AP and tax platforms, banking and payment providers Build event-driven data pipelines on GCP (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer, BigQuery) with the retry, idempotency and dead-letter handling that financial data demands Take a partially defined requirement, work out the real problem behind it, and turn it into either a design spec another engineer can build from or a solution you deliver yourself Own reconciliation and data integrity, catch failures early, make them visible, and make them recoverable without manual cleanup, including during close periods Set and hold integration standards across the team: contract design, error handling, observability, runbooks and documentation What we’re looking for Backend services built and run in production, with a track record of designing scalable, reliable microservices Strong proficiency in TypeScript for service-layer development RESTful API design, service boundaries, contracts and versioning Integration of enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, billing, subscriptions or finance platforms) and the messy data mapping that comes with them, including hands-on Workday integration work, Studio, Orchestrate, EIB, Core Connectors, RaaS/BIRT or Web Services. Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL data stores, message queues and alerting, plus test design treated as part of delivery. You might also have (optional) Understanding of the Workday data model across Financials and/or PayrollExperience building and operating integrations on MuleSoft, including migrating them onto native or custom-built solutions Experience with other iPaaS platforms such as Workato or Dell Boomi Experience with XML, XSLT and JSON transformation and mapping Familiarity with GCP services beyond the basics, and with Kubernetes CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions or similar Base Salary Range: kr539,400 – kr809,200 DKK gross This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer amount will depend on several factors, including geographic location and the candidate’s relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.
