Software Engineer - Level 2

Standard Job Description 
 Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.

Processing engineers design, develop, and integrate software that powers the flight control, navigation, sensor-fusion, and communications subsystems of cutting‑edge unmanned aircraft. We operate in a highly innovative, multi‑site environment where speed, modularity, and reusability are paramount.

You will support the development and maintenance of platform‑level software for ISR and UAS systems. In this role you will build and maintain deployable system images and runtime environments, bundling operating‑system components, middleware, and platform services into validated volumes. You will collaborate closely with software, systems, and security teams to ensure the infrastructure is reliable, repeatable, and secure, and you will provide ongoing troubleshooting and enhancements that keep the platform stable and ready for rapid field deployment.   WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU Working directly with middleware and platform‑level infrastructure will give you hands‑on technical experience and deep expertise in the core software that powers ISR and UAS missions. Support development and maintenance of deployable system images Assist with integrating middleware and system services into runtime volumes Support configuration management and system initialization tasks Develop and maintain scripts to assist with image creation and validation Support integration and deployment activities in lab and test environments Participate in peer code reviews and technical discussions   Travel up to 10% may be required. Basic Qualifications 
 Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) Experience with the software development process in a team environment (peer reviews, unit testing, configuration management, defect tracking)
