Job Description

J ob Title: Tax Advisor - Vice President Corporate Title: Vice President, Tax Advisory Location: New York Overview Tax Advisory role for US tax law specialist within Group Tax Americas with a focus on US tax rules involving: (i) FATCA, (ii) Non-Resident Alien (NRA) withholding and (iii) information reporting across all Deutsche Bank business lines globally. You will have a particular focus on maintaining appropriate policy and process frameworks for these three key areas in addition to Qualified Intermediary functions.  Prior experience or familiarity in these specialized areas of US tax law (as well as international tax generally) is strongly preferred.  Role provides flexibility to expand into other general areas of Tax Advisory including new products/transactions, risk-assessment and control of tax-related risks, and other advisory work within a global investment bank.

Work with internal operations teams and external tax advisors to identify and analyze tax reporting and withholding obligations. Review and analysis of US information reporting policies and procedures including Forms 1099s, 1042s, 945s and 8966s. Provide subject matter expertise on Form W-8 validation, presumption rules, income characterization, sourcing and treaty analysis of payments, analysis of FATCA/CRS status and related reporting requirements. Provide tax advice on withholding tax matters within transaction documents (e.g., ISDA, securities lending transactions, repo agreements). Maintain core tax document library for DB business units and legal entities (e.g., US W-8 forms and residency certificates). How You’ll Lead Develop and implement tax policies, procedures and controls in line with regulatory and business requirements Provide subject matter expertise on operational tax issues such as withholding tax, FATCA/CRS, 1099/1042-s reporting, transaction taxes, etc Skills You’ll Need At least 3+ years’ experience relating to FATCA, NRA withholding and US information reporting. Demonstrated experience and familiarity with operational data flow and onboarding processes common in global banking industry. Excellent ability to understand, interpret, apply and communicate tax-related regulatory and policy requirements. Ability to work and communicate effectively with various stakeholders throughout Deutsche Bank including business lines, client onboarding, and tax operations. CPA or JD preferred but not required.
