Job Description:  Seeking a Systems Engineer that is responsible for supporting the development, integration, verification, and lifecycle sustainment of complex systems and subsystems. This role applies systems engineering principles across the full product lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture development, design support, integration, test, validation, and operational support. The Systems Engineer works cross-functionally with engineering, program management, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and customer stakeholders to ensure technical solutions meet performance, cost, schedule, and supportability objectives. This position requires the ability to analyze technical problems, evaluate alternatives, and contribute to the development of practical, effective solutions for complex systems. Additionally, performing remediation planning and technical solution development for existing ground-based systems that support a network of satellites in operation.   Essential Functions: •    Apply systems engineering processes across the full system lifecycle to support requirements development, architecture, integration, verification, validation, sustainment, and obsolescence remediation activities for complex systems. •    Perform system-level analysis, design evaluation, and architectural assessments to resolve technical issues, support trade studies, and develop remediation plans for ground-based and networked systems. •    Analyze obsolescence impacts, lifecycle risks, system dependencies, and technical constraints to develop effective solutions that balance mission performance, cybersecurity, supportability, cost, and schedule. •    Coordinate with cross-functional teams including hardware, software, network, test, supply chain, suppliers, and program leadership to evaluate alternatives and implement technical solutions. •    Develop and maintain technical documentation and systems engineering artifacts, including requirements, interface definitions, verification planning, analysis reports, remediation scope, and implementation plans. •    Evaluate and communicate technical, cost, schedule, and operational impacts of design changes and remediation strategies, and provide clear recommendations to internal and external stakeholders. •    Support configuration management, change control, technical reviews, risk mitigation, and issue resolution through implementation and verification of system changes. •    Prepare technical scope, engineering estimates, and schedule inputs for development, sustainment, and obsolescence remediation efforts, while mentoring less experienced team members and supporting process improvement. Qualifications:   •    Must be able to obtain a NOAA Public Trust  •    Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related STEM field and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
