IT Engineer (Data Services)

Responsibilities, but not limited to Install, upgrade database systems, apply patches and implement changes when required.  Diagnose and resolve database errors ensuring high availability of database systems.  Manage databases access, backups and ensure compliance with database and security standards.  Perform changes to critical databases related to manufacturing and engineering.  Support incident, request, change, and problem management tasks associated with database operations.  Ensure SLA for incidents and service requests are met with high quality of work.  Ensure critical metrics, such as breach case target, MTTR and first level resolution target are met.  Provide oncall support, including outside of office hours.  Perform business continuity planning and capacity forecast for database systems Plan, execute, and validate disaster recovery exercises, failover testing, and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity readiness. Collaborate with site customers on new database requirements, problem resolution and data flow requests.  Performance tuning of databases to ensure high performance and availability.  Monitor database performance proactively and perform analysis of cases to prevent recurring issues.  Review and enhance database monitoring when required.  Develop processes and operation procedures related to database operations.  Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.  Engineer solutions and automations to improve productivity and efficiency of database operations and reliability and availability of the database systems.  Identify recurring operational challenges, perform trend analysis, and implement preventive measures to improve service reliability and reduce incidents. Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.  Participate in worldwide collaboration for technical sharing and reference architecture alignment.  Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics/Computer/Software Engineering, Information Systems or related fields, or equivalent experience. Candidates with 0-4 years of experience can apply. Good understanding and hands-on experience in the following areas will be advantageous: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Databases, Linux and Windows operation systems. Programming and scripting languages such as Java, PowerShell and Python. Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools Effective oral and written communication with strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
