Job Overview
As Press Helper/Assistant, you will be responsible for setting up and preparing of materials that are specified on the work order. You will also be required to follow and write policy for safety and work procedures. Communication, good attitude, and good attendance are also required. As a Press Helper/Assistant you will work hand and hand with the Operator in the production process. 2. Principal Accountabilities To be aware of, adhere to and help to improve all safety standards and procedures at AF-Shelbyville To be aware of, adhere to and help to improve all quality standards and procedures at AF-Shelbyville To be aware of, adhere to and help to improve all production standards and procedures at AF-Shelbyville Possess good verbal and written communication skills Learn and apply understanding of current operating standards and practices. Willingly learns and applies new standards and practices Willing to learn and apply new skills Able to understand and make accurate measurements. Has a basic, high school-level math skill. Able to read, comprehend and follow verbal or written instructions in English Has basic computer skills Understands and completes all paperwork related to operations Labels and palletizes finished rolls Will acquire and stock all necessary operating supplies and materials for the Finishing equipment Will assist Press Operator with set ups, paperwork and operation of equipment Will learn and apply knowledge of Quality standards and procedures. Will learn to identify quality defects Will learn and apply knowledge of Work Order specifications Assists with the take down and set up of jobs Cleans cylinders, washes up decks, and sumps Refills and maintains ink supply, and testing ink viscosity Responsible for all press material at machine, film, inks Completes tasks and helps pharmaceutical quality product in a timely manner Participates in Continuous Improvement initiatives Works with co-workers and management in a positive and constructive manner Cover for Operator when needed (cross train) Other duties and responsibilities as required 4. Qualifications/Requirements 6.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience Knowledge and Experience 1 year working in a manufacturing environment preferred Education and Certifications High School Diploma or equivalent 6.2 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours Job Specific skills and abilities Basic computer skills Must be able to flex hours in order to support multi-shift operation Ability to stay on task and follow instruction Basic measurement, math, communication, reading and writing skills Ability to understand and apply all Amcor safety, quality and production standards Ability to stand, walk, and lift continuously for up to 12 hours Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs without assistance Ability and willingness to drive forklift Must prioritize safety, above all else 6.3 Physical Demands Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. Frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception. 6.4 Work Environment The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts requiring special safety precautions that are normally encountered when working around moving machines in production facilities.
