At Ericsson, Radio Products Canada (RPCA) develops world-leading radio products that enable mobile networks worldwide. We are seeking a Senior Sub-System Design Engineer to join our Product Systems & Integration (PSI) organization in Ottawa, Canada. This role is part of the Performance & Allocation team and is well-suited for an experienced systems engineer with a strong interest in product development, system design, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. You will contribute to defining, systemizing, and realizing next-generation radio products — from early technology studies through product release and lifecycle management — working with hardware, software, architecture, verification, product management, and project teams located globally across Canada, Sweden, and China. What you will do: Drive Radio Sub-System Design activities across the complete product lifecycle Own and maintain Radio Sub-System requirements, design specifications, and technical documentation Perform product-level allocation of requirements, performance targets, and system capabilities across hardware and software subsystems Analyze system trade-offs and ensure end-to-end product performance objectives are achievable Participate in early-phase studies, pre-development activities, product concept evaluations, and technical assessments Support project execution through milestones, technical reviews, and design decision forums Collaborate with architecture, hardware, software, security, performance, verification, and integration teams to ensure aligned technical solutions Drive issue resolution, technical risk management, and requirement clarification throughout development Support system baseline management, change control activities, and product release readiness Contribute to development cost and effort estimations for features and product variants Support hardware and software teams during implementation, integration, verification, and troubleshooting Provide technical leadership within cross-functional and multi-site development teams Promote continuous improvement of engineering processes, methods, tools, and ways of working The skills you bring: Required Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related discipline Several years of experience in product development, systems engineering, or subsystem design Strong understanding of complex telecommunications or embedded systems Experience translating customer, business, or system requirements into technical subsystem solutions Experience performing requirement allocation and system decomposition across multiple technical domains Ability to analyze technical trade-offs involving performance, cost, complexity, quality, and delivery timelines Experience working in cross-functional product development organizations Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to drive technical discussions and contribute to decisions collaboratively Preferred Experience with radio products, radio access networks (RAN), Massive MIMO, distributed radio systems, or wireless infrastructure Experience with hardware/software co-design Understanding of performance engineering, capacity analysis, or product optimization Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS NG, JIRA, Confluence, or similar platforms Experience supporting design reviews, milestone governance, or product readiness activities Knowledge of product lifecycle processes within telecommunications product development Experience working in geographically distributed teams What happens once you apply?
