The Enterprise Digital Product Office (EDPO) at Optum is a centralized organization focused on accelerating digital transformation across the enterprise. The team partners across business, technology, and operations to design, build, and scale product-centric solutions that improve customer experiences, optimize operational workflows, and deliver measurable business outcomes. The team drives consistency in product strategy, agile delivery, and design practices, enabling teams to operate with greater speed, clarity, and impact. By aligning cross-functional stakeholders and leveraging modern technologies-including cloud platforms, data, and AI-the organization supports the development of scalable, user-centered solutions that help advance Optum's mission to build a more effective and equitable health care system. As a Senior Product Designer, you'll lead the design of complex digital experiences across responsive web and mobile applications while helping shape product direction and customer outcomes. You'll drive discovery, facilitate cross-functional collaboration, mentor fellow designers, and influence product strategy through thoughtful design, research, and data-informed decision making. This role balances strategic thinking with hands-on design execution. Designs and develops engaging, effective user experiences for a digital product or product type in order to drive customer adoption. Identifies requirements and enhances usability and aesthetic appeal of digital experience through the design of interactive flows, sketches, story boards, wireframes, motion studies, mock-ups and prototypes. Stays informed on technology and research on customer preferences, identifying opportunities to apply new technologies to enhance the digital experience. Lead the end-to-end design of complex product initiatives, from discovery and concept development through delivery and continuous improvement Partner with product managers, engineers, researchers, and business stakeholders to define problems, identify opportunities, and create user-centered solutions Facilitate discovery activities, including stakeholder workshops, journey mapping, concept exploration, and experience visioning to inform product direction Translate user research, analytics, and business insights into design strategies that balance user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility Explore multiple design concepts, iterate based on user feedback and testing, and continuously refine experiences throughout the product lifecycle Define and communicate design concepts through user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and compelling design presentations Champion user-centered design, accessibility, and inclusive design principles while advocating for the needs of diverse users throughout the product lifecycle Drive consistency by contributing to and evolving the design system, reusable patterns, and design best practices across products Build alignment across cross-functional teams by communicating design rationale, facilitating discussions, and influencing product decisions Leverage AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve research, ideation, documentation, and design workflows
