For over 60 years, the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) team has supported the Navy’s mission to provide affordable and credible strategic defense. We help keep this nation and our allies secure. The FBM program is experiencing significant growth, and we need your expertise to deliver amazing new technologies to our customers while maintaining the technical requirements of the strategic deterrence. As a Materials Engineer in the Electrical Materials and Processes (EM&P) group on the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program, you’ll identify requirements for the selection, approval, and overall management of materials and processes used in design, development, fabrication, procurement, and service life consideration for all prototype, qualification, and flight printed wiring boards and circuit card assemblies. You will Take system or material-level requirements and implement testing and controls such that materials and processes meet end-item requirements. Working side-by-side with designers, component engineers, manufacturing engineers, and both internal and external customers, you’ll use your education, experience, and growing expertise to drive commonality across the missile. In this role you will: • Select materials and processes on new designs that will help defend out country, get hands-on manufacturing experience of the next missile, or provide oversite to an extensive supply chain providing product critical to Mission Success • Perform materials and processes technical engineering assignments • Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions • Participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials and processes • Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers, and analyze test reports • Coordinate with other disciplines such as design engineering, manufacturing, quality engineering, and procurement We're looking for: • A self-starter who implements solutions to technical issues • A motivated individual who's able to work closely with a multidisciplinary and diverse team to resolve technical issues • Someone able to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects and timeline pressure to meet deadlines • Someone comfortable with communication • The ability to work with management and program representatives at several levels Identifies requirements for the selection, approval, and overall management of materials and processes used in design, development, fabrication, procurement, and service life consideration for all prototype, qualification, and flight printed wiring boards and circuit card assemblies.
