Responsibilities
Manage the claims function in strict accordance with policy, state, and federal laws and regulations. Analyze claim details and apply your knowledge of claims procedures, product development, and contract provisions to make appropriate, accurate, and timely claim decisions. Understand plan provisions, determine eligibility, verify data input, identify accurate benefit levels, coordinate benefits, and make necessary corrections. Build, develop, coordinate, and conduct training programs for individuals and teams on a large or small scale. Manage and mentor team members, ensuring effective communication of strategy, company goals, and deadlines. Assess team performance, motivate members, and communicate concerns and policies between management and team members. Effectively manage collaborators, coordinate new migrations, ensure customer happiness, manage operational risks, and foster a culture of innovation and process simplification.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or equivalent experience, or Master's degree or equivalent experience in life sciences preferred. Course work in medical/dental terminology and/or industry courses (e.g., LOMA, HIAA, ICA). At least 10 years of experience in back office operations concentrating on insurance—whether domestic or international—including claims handling for health insurance, life and disability claims, or underwriting. Proficient in MS Office with strong written and verbal communication skills.
