Job Description
HPE is seeking a visionary Vice President, Cyber Defense to lead the enterprise strategy and capabilities that protect our people, products, customers, intellectual property, and global operations. This executive will oversee four core areas: Cyber Defense Center operations, Insider Threat & Investigations, Threat Intelligence, and Detection Engineering. The ideal candidate is a seasoned cybersecurity leader who can scale global teams, strengthen cyber resilience, and translate evolving threats into measurable business outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities
Define and execute HPE’s enterprise cyber defense strategy, operating model, roadmap, and investment priorities. Partner with the CISO, executive leadership, board stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to align cyber defense with business priorities. Lead global teams responsible for: Cyber Defense Center operations, including incident response, threat hunting, compromise analysis, and crisis coordination. Insider threat identification, investigations, evidence handling, and risk reduction. Threat intelligence operations, adversary tracking, and intelligence-led defense. Detection engineering, analytics, automation, and AI-enabled SOC capabilities. Improve detection fidelity, response speed, investigation quality, and enterprise resilience. Set a forward-looking vision and roadmap, and implement capabilities to leverage generative AI and agentic AI to enhance and scale cyber defense operations. Build and retain a high-performing global organization through strong talent development, succession planning, and operational accountability. Represent HPE as a cybersecurity leader with industry partners, government agencies, and the broader security community. Travel approximately 25%, less if based in Houston, TX Experience and Skills Executive-level experience leading large-scale, global cybersecurity or cyber defense organizations in complex enterprises. Deep expertise in incident response, threat hunting, threat intelligence, detection engineering, insider threat, investigations, and offensive security. Proven success building and scaling Cyber Defense Centers, red/purple teams, penetration testing programs, and intelligence-led defense capabilities. Strong understanding of modern adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures. Experience with modern security platforms and capabilities, including SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, threat intelligence, analytics, automation, case management, and AI-enabled security operations. Demonstrated ability to translate cyber risk into business impact and influence senior executives and boards. Strong business judgment, executive communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills. Experience managing significant budgets, strategic technology investments, and enterprise transformation initiatives. Advanced cybersecurity or business credentials—such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, CCSP, or an MBA—are valued.
