About this role

The Immigration Specialist owns the quality assurance program for Amazon’s in-house H-1B and Labor Condition Application (LCA) operations. The role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining quality controls across H-1B Cap, Extension, Amendment, Change of Employer, concurrent and related dependent filings, as well as LCA preparation and filing activities. This is a senior specialist role requiring deep subject-matter expertise in H-1B and LCA requirements, strong regulatory judgment, and the ability to identify and mitigate compliance risks before filings are submitted. The Immigration Specialist serves as the primary quality and technical escalation point for complex or non-standard cases, ensuring that petition forms, support letters, evidence packages, wage information, work locations and underlying LCA data are accurate, consistent and filing-ready. The role manages reviewer standards, quality calibration, defect analysis and corrective-action mechanisms across the program. It partners closely with H-1B program owners, operations teams, legal, external counsel, Product and Technology teams to strengthen controls, reduce repeat defects, and support the continued expansion of immigration work managed in-house. Key job responsibilities Own the pre-filing QA program for H-1B Cap, Extension, Amendment, Change of Employer, concurrent and dependent filings, as well as LCA operations. Establish and maintain QA standards, review checklists, sampling methodologies and acceptance criteria. Review or oversee validation of petition forms, support letters, evidence packages, job information, wage levels, occupation codes, work locations and legal entities. Ensure consistency across the H-1B petition, supporting documentation and underlying LCA. Serve as the technical escalation point for complex, high-risk or non-standard QA findings. Assess defect materiality and determine whether cases may proceed, require correction or need Legal or external counsel review. Lead reviewer calibration and provide technical guidance to QA reviewers and case-management teams. Track defects, rework, filing errors, RFEs and compliance trends, and conduct root-cause analysis. Partner with program owners, Operations, Legal, Product and Technology teams to implement corrective actions and preventive controls. Support testing and validation of system changes affecting H-1B and LCA workflows. Maintain quality documentation, decision logs and audit evidence, and report emerging risks and control effectiveness to leadership.
