The Production 2020 program is an Software Reliability Engineering initiative with the mission to meaningfully reduce the amount of time a typical Google engineer spends on basic service management in production. The product suite aims to make code, configuration, storage schemas and footprint deployments easy, safe, and reliable. The Rollouts Configuration team develops the platform, enabling Google service owners to deploy config changes safely and efficiently across different environments. We tackle complex challenges in large-scale distributed systems to ensure reliable and performant config delivery for all of Google. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Write product or system development code. Design, implement, and test features on safe config deployments. Manage challenges in distributed systems, API development, and large-scale user migration. Define, monitor, and improve Service Level Indicators and Objectives to ensure high reliability and efficiency for config deployments, including root cause analysis of production issues. Apply AI agentic tooling to enhance system operability and engineering productivity. Collaborate with other teams, and service owners to deliver impactful config rollout solutions.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting. 2 years of experience with Go, C++, or Java. 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, and system development. Experience with Agile software development. Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields. 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms. Experience developing accessible technologies. Experience with generative AI agent, API development, and cloud.
