ECD plays a critical role as it adds value to Bain's case teams globally by supporting them with analytics and research solutioning across all industries, specific domains for corporate cases, client development, private equity diligence or Bain intellectual property. The BCN comprises of Consulting Services, Knowledge Services and Shared Services WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH: The Retail Center of Expertise collaborates with Bain’s global Retail Practice leadership, client-facing Bain leadership and teams, and with end clients on development and delivery of Bain’s proprietary Retail products and solutions. These solutions aim to answer strategic questions of Bain’s Retail clients relating to category management, COGS optimization, pricing & promotion analytics and customer analytics. You will work as part of the team in Retail CoE comprising of a mix of Director, Managers, Projects Leads, Associates and Analysts on projects ranging from 3 weeks to 6 months. Delivery models on projects vary from working as part of a broader global Bain case team, working independently with a Bain Associate Partner / Partner, or working directly with end clients. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Design, build, and ship features end-to-end - from React/Next.js interfaces through Python APIs to the underlying data layer for Bain’s proprietary Retail products. Develop responsive, intuitive front-end components and dashboards that make complex retail analytics accessible to case teams and end clients. Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs (Python, FastAPI) that are secure, scalable, and well tested. Design database schemas and write performant SQL to support both product features and analytical workflows. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Docker and Git for continuous deployment on cloud platforms (Azure / AWS / GCP). Implement logging, monitoring, and automated testing to keep products reliable and performant in production. Integrate AI/LLM capabilities into product workflows where they meaningfully improve the user experience. Partner with product managers, and consulting teams to translate business problems into product requirements and shape the roadmap. Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and engineering standards across the Retail CoE product portfolio. The Associate is expected to have a knack for seeking out challenging problems and producing their own ideas, which they will be encouraged to brainstorm with their peers and managers. They should be willing to learn new techniques and be open to solving problems with an interdisciplinary approach. They must have excellent coding skills and should demonstrate a willingness to write modular, reusable, and functional code. ABOUT YOU: A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred 2–4 years of experience in full stack development, building and shipping production-grade web applications Strong front-end skills in React or Next.js, including component design, state management, and responsive UI Proficiency in Python and building production backend services and REST APIs (FastAPI, Flask, or Django) Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL
