We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join us for a 12-month fixed-term employment opportunity , leading our finance team across Australia and Asia. This is a key leadership role for the region reporting to the Finance Director – Australia and serving as the financial conduit between operations and the regional finance structure.
About the Role
As the Australian Financial Controller , you will provide strong leadership, drive financial performance, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements. You will oversee corporate Financial Accounting, Financial Shared Services (FSS), and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams, delivering accurate reporting, robust governance, and strategic insights that enable value creation and robust long-term planning. Key Responsibilities include: Lead the Australian finance team, fostering a high-performance culture. Drive financial strategy, planning, and compliance across Australian operations. Oversee consolidation of the Alcoa of Australia Ltd financials and associated statutory reporting, audits, and internal controls to maintain strong governance. Manage FP&A activities, including annual plans, forecasts, and long-term financial strategies. Provide expert financial analysis and insights to senior management for decision-making. Oversee statutory reporting, audits, and internal controls to maintain strong governance. Optimize FSS function to deliver efficient and cost-effective accounting services. Collaborate closely with Alcoa Corporation global finance teams on reporting, planning, and benchmarking. What you can bring to the role Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance; CA/CPA qualification essential. 10–15 years’ experience in finance within Mining, Manufacturing, or Oil & Gas industries, including 5+ years in leadership roles. Proven ability to lead change, build relationships, and influence outcomes at senior levels. Strong technical accounting skills with deep knowledge of cost drivers and analytics. Exceptional communication, organizational, and time management skills.
