Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Accounting Research , leads GPC’s enterprise accounting research function. This role provides expert technical accounting guidance on complex and evolving accounting matters, supervises and develops accounting research professionals, and prepares accounting treatment recommendations for senior leadership. The role also partners with business unit finance teams, corporate functions, and external auditors to support the consistent application of accounting policies and leads change-management activities for new accounting standards and process improvements through training and communication.
Responsibilities
Supervise and develop a high-performing team of (2) accounting professionals. Lead accounting research projects addressing new accounting standards, revenue recognition, debt, goodwill impairment, M&A accounting, and other complex technical accounting areas. Partner with business unit finance teams, Treasury, Tax, Legal, SEC Reporting, and other corporate functions to provide practical guidance on complex transactions, new business initiatives, and evolving technical accounting matters. Develop accounting policies, technical memos, and position papers for review and approval by senior leadership. Collaborate across business unit finance teams, FP&A, consolidation, SEC Reporting, Treasury, Tax, and Legal to align accounting treatments, support consistent policy application, and resolve cross-functional accounting matters in a timely manner. Support quarterly and annual reporting processes as needed. Serve as a key liaison for internal and external audit matters. Develop and deliver internal training sessions and updates on new accounting standards, policies, and procedures to support global accounting compliance. Independently manage multiple complex projects and decisions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, balancing technical requirements with practical business considerations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required. Minimum of (7) years of progressive accounting experience, including at least (2) years of public accounting experience. Deep technical expertise in US GAAP, SEC regulations, and complex accounting topics, including Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) accounting. Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a team of accounting professionals. Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to assess the business impact of accounting issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly engage internal stakeholders, external auditors, and cross-functional teams. Demonstrated ability to negotiate and drive consensus on complex accounting matters while maintaining productive working relationships.

Physical Demands / Working Environment Primarily office-based in a professional, climate-controlled environment. Occasional extended hours during peak periods (e.g., project-based or quarter-end close). Requires sustained concentration, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
