The opportunity   EY's Incentives and Capital Investments team helps companies access government incentives that support innovation, growth and investment across Canada. We're looking for a Tax Staff or Senior Tax Staff with a background in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related applied science discipline to join our Vancouver team and support clients throughout Western Canada.   You'll work with companies that are solving real-world challenges through innovation, collaborate with technical and business leaders to understand complex projects and help clients access incentives that support growth and investment. This is an opportunity to apply your technical background in a client-facing role, gain exposure to diverse industries, and develop expertise in a specialized and evolving area of tax and innovation.   This job posting relates to an existing vacancy within our organization.   Your key responsibilities:

Meeting with client representatives including CEOs, CTOs, Technical Managers, and Engineers to evaluate their Research and Development projects and prepare SRED claims. Assessing project's eligibility, establishing its value and writing technical project descriptions detailing the innovation and experimental activities. Engaging in discussions on new prototypes, experimental trials, process improvements, and new product development for leading companies in Canada. Coordinating, preparing, and participating in SRED reviews with CRA auditors. Managing the technical submission process which includes formulating and writing technical SRED submissions.

A high level of motivation and a commitment to learning in a tax technology environment. Strong project management and organizational skills with a proven ability to consistently meet tight deadlines. A process-oriented nature and excellent documentation skills. Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with high degree of professional accountability and self-motivation.

A Degree or Diploma in Chemistry, Physics or Chemical, Mining or Mechanical Engineering, A Graduate’s Degree in any of the noted applied sciences disciplines is a strong asset.
