The Role

The Workplace Safety Group - Safety Operations role at General Motors LLC is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment through the implementation and oversight of occupational safety and health programs and practices across our facilities.

What You'll Do

(Responsibilities): Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive occupational safety and health programs and procedures in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations and GM internal standards. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions. Provide expert guidance and support to management and employees on all aspects of occupational safety and health. Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels, covering topics such as hazard recognition, emergency preparedness, and safe work practices. Collaborate with engineering, production, and other departments to integrate safety into new projects, processes, and equipment. Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend improvements to safety programs. Prepare and maintain detailed records and reports related to safety incidents, inspections, and training. Stay current with industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging safety technologies. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or a  related discipline 5+ years of relevant experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs. Strong understanding of relevant safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA). Ability to conduct thorough incident investigations and root cause analyses. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Professional safety certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) is a significant advantage. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
