Job Description
AECOM Buildings + Places is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team in Ottawa . This is a new position created to support the continued growth of our building engineering practice and contribute to the delivery of diverse and complex projects across commercial, institutional, and light industrial sectors, including water and wastewater treatment facilities and sewage lift stations. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading mechanical engineering design, supporting multidisciplinary project teams, and providing technical leadership throughout all phases of project delivery. Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and plumbing systems, for commercial, institutional, and light industrial facilities; Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, designers, and project team members; Direct and coordinate project delivery teams to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and timely completion of deliverables; Develop design approaches, procedures, and technical solutions to support successful project execution; Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and project managers, to coordinate project deliverables; Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documentation; Perform quality control reviews of designs, calculations, and drawings; Develop construction cost estimates and contribute to engineering budgets and project schedules; Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the growth of AECOM’s mechanical engineering practice.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario, in good standing; Current
