About this role
Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity. Amazon Leo is building a next-generation satellite constellation to deliver fast, reliable broadband connectivity around the world. Achieving that mission requires engineers who thrive on solving complex, multidisciplinary problems and delivering hardware that performs flawlessly from manufacturing through launch and years of operation in space. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Configuration Management Engineer to join the Engineering Practice & Configuration Management team. This role is the EE-domain equivalent of our established mechanical CM function-you will own the end-to-end configuration management process for electrical engineering, spanning component initiation through ECAD library management, PCB design, engineering documentation, release to supply chain, and contract manufacturer handoff. Today, EE workflows span multiple disconnected systems-Xpedition (ECAD), EDM (component library), Teamcenter (PLM), and contract manufacturer interfaces - but no single person owns the end-to-end process, drives tooling to reduce friction, or has the mandate to standardize across projects. You will close this gap. Your job is to streamline workflow processes and tools in the Electrical domain by owning the configuration management layer and the processes that enforce it. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Key job responsibilities • End-to-End EE CM Process Ownership: Own and continuously improve the full EE configuration management lifecycle. Component initiation -> ECAD library definition -> PCB design -> engineering documentation -> synchronization to PLM database -> release to supply chain -> contract manufacturer handoff. • Cross-Project Process Standardization: Define and enforce PCBA lifecycle standards, BOM structure conventions, document templates, revision control protocols, and EBOM vs. MBOM definitions across all design projects. • Component Data Integrity: Drive synchronization between EDM and Teamcenter, own the Approved Vendor List (AVL) lookup table, establish mechanisms that validates component data integrity for engineering releases. • Configuration Document Ownership: Author and maintain configuration management standards as the champion for the EE domain. Counterpart to existing Mechanical Configuration Management Engineer. • Custom Component Release Governance: Ensure custom modules (ASICs, make to spec customized components) follow traceability and release standards. Identify and eliminate process gaps in configuration control. • BOM Integrity Enforcement: Establish single-source-of-truth practices and automated verification of BOMs. Identify workflow process pain points to author business requirements documents and tool improvement proposals. • Training & Enablement: Build and deliver EE-specific configuration management curriculum for project teams; establish onboarding materials and ongoing competency development. A day in the life As a Configuration Manager , you'll work across nearly every engineering discipline involved in spacecraft development. You will act as Subject Matter Expert in this domain and will be responsible for daily Tactical and long term Strategic initiatives around engineering product life cycle development systems, standards, and processes that ensure spacecraft design data remains accurate, traceable, and controlled throughout the product lifecycle. You will be the person who
