EY GDS – Data and Analytics (D&A) – Techno-Functional Data Consultant – Insurance (Senior Con.) As part of our EY-GDS D&A (Data and Analytics) team, we help our clients solve complex business challenges with the help of data and technology. We dive deep into data to extract the greatest value and discover opportunities in key business and functions like Banking, Insurance, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Retail, Manufacturing and Auto, Supply Chain, and Finance The opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated Techno-Functional Data Consultant to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams within our insurance data transformation and migration initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong data analysis and data modelling capabilities, coupled with a solid understanding of insurance business processes and data structures. This role will be responsible for translating business requirements into data solutions, supporting data migration and integration activities, defining data models, and ensuring data quality across strategic insurance platforms. Your Key Responsibilities Business & Functional Analysis
Collaborate with business stakeholders, SMEs, and product owners to understand business processes, data requirements, and reporting needs. Elicit, document, and validate functional and data requirements. Conduct impact assessments for business and regulatory changes affecting data assets. Facilitate workshops and act as a liaison between business and technical teams.
Data Analysis & Data Management
Perform detailed source-to-target data analysis and mapping. Analyse complex datasets to identify data quality issues, gaps, inconsistencies, and transformation requirements. Support data governance initiatives, including data lineage, data definitions, and business rules documentation. Define and validate data migration and reconciliation rules.
Data Modelling
Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Develop entity relationship diagrams (ERDs) and data dictionaries. Define data structures, relationships, and business rules to support operational and analytical requirements. Ensure alignment between business processes and target data architecture. Collaborate with solution architects and development teams to implement data models. Work closely with ETL, Data Engineering, and Development teams to ensure requirements are accurately implemented.
Required Skills & Experience Data Modelling Skills
Demonstrable experience in conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling. Proficiency with data modelling tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, SAP PowerDesigner, Lucidchart, Visio, or similar. Strong understanding of relational databases and data architecture principles. Experience creating and maintaining enterprise data models and data dictionaries.
Functional Skills
Strong understanding of insurance business processes and data. Experience working on policy, customer, claims, underwriting, or broker data domains. Proven experience in requirements gathering, business analysis, and stakeholder management. Ability to translate business requirements into technical and data specifications.
Data Skills
Strong data analysis skills using SQL(mandatory) and related data tools. Hands-on experience in data profiling, data quality assessment, and data mapping. Experience in data migration and system transformation projects. Understanding of data governance and master data management principles. Hands-on experience with one or more reporting and analytics platforms like
