Requisition Number: [[id]]   Instrumentation and Control Engineer – Team Leader   We are looking for a Instrumentation and Control Engineer – Team Leader  for our Peterborough, Ontario site.  BWXT NEC's Fuel and Fuel Handling business is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry’s most challenging problems. Responsibilities of the engineer performing this role include setting the technical direction for the overall project and acting as the main technical interface point to both internal and external customers. The Instrumentation and Controls Engineering department largely focuses on the control systems and instrumentation involved within Fuel Handling Systems, other parts of the plant, tooling, medical isotope systems as well as remote delivery machines. These systems are often complex and are in specialized areas. The department has the expert knowledge, legacy information and skillset to support our customers with engineering design, troubleshooting, maintenance and support work. We use such tools as AutoCAD®, AutoCAD Electrical® and IntEC® to create concept drawings, detailed designs, elementary drawings, BOMs, wiring diagrams and can also provide design replacement solutions for obsolete components such as relays, motors and circuit cards.   RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilitate the preparation of proper plans and schedules (level 3) with individual contributors. Take ownership of the cost/schedule commitments of your team. Create and enforce the use of Task Definition Forms (TDFs) for work assignments. Provide leadership and direction of design activities in conjunction with the technical counselors. Measure and drive job scope control with individuals to improve overall performance. Maintain task surveillance through active engagement with your team and driving accurate work planning through consistent meetings. Maintain team and individual allocation targets, enforce budget adherence and review project budgets and runout estimates as necessary.
