About this role

Job Description

As a Stress Engineer (f/m/d) at Rolls-Royce in Dahlewitz (near Berlin) , you will be responsible for the structural assessment, lifing and validation of highly loaded and safety-critical components within advanced propulsion systems. The role combines stress analysis, fatigue and lifing, finite element analysis (FEA), structural integrity and experimental validation throughout the product development process. The position offers the opportunity to work at the interface between numerical simulation, engineering design and physical testing, with a strong focus on ensuring component integrity, durability and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Perform stress and lifing assessments for structures and transmission components, including static main engine structures Assess components for static strength, fatigue, vibration and crack propagation Develop, implement and evaluate thermo-mechanical finite element models Perform detailed structural analysis and critically evaluate the underlying assumptions, boundary conditions and load cases Optimise components with respect to weight, cost, strength and service life Develop and apply appropriate methods for component life assessment and life declaration Define and support rig tests and experimental programmes to demonstrate component life, durability and structural integrity Post-process, interpret and critically evaluate analysis and test results Correlate simulation results with experimental data and identify potential discrepancies Support design improvements based on analysis and test findings Prepare technical substantiation, qualification and certification reports Work closely with Design, Testing, Manufacturing and other Engineering functions in a multidisciplinary and international environment Requirements Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a comparable engineering discipline Strong knowledge of mechanics, strength of materials and finite element analysis (FEA) Good understanding of component lifing and life assessment methodologies Knowledge of fatigue, crack growth and structural integrity Experience with thermo-mechanical analysis would be advantageous Knowledge of the analysis of gearbox components, particularly gearbox housings and mounts, would be an asset Strong engineering judgement and the ability to critically assess numerical results Pragmatic, structured and solution-oriented approach to engineering problems Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team Excellent written and spoken English is essential German language skills would be an advantage Job Category Mechanical Systems Posting Date 07 Sept. 2026; 00:09
