And so much more.​      ​Come break through with us.   Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.       The purpose of this position is:    Warehouse Lead assists the Shipping and DC Supervisor with managing and overseeing all the functions of the warehouse and ensuring smooth operations of all activities. Lead ensures that materials in various stages of shipping and receiving are pulled and delivered to internal and/or external customers; domestic and/or international and warehouse meets SLAs.     This position includes significant duties such as to:   • Determine method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures; prepare materials for shipping by weighing, packaging and stamping; prepare necessary shipping forms such as bills of lading • Ensure that transactions are properly recorded in required systems (SAP, FedEx, UPS, etc.) • Order and maintain department inventory of tools and supplies • Support and provide general reporting to Engineering, Technology and Production testing departments; represent respective area in meetings • Operate mechanical equipment as required, ie forklift, pallet jacks, etc. • Conduct cycle counts and other audits as required • Support and encourage employees to enhance their performance and, where appropriate, offer training on various departmental tasks • Conduct on the job training to new employees and resolve problems utilizing knowledge of shipping/receiving/stock operations • Lead teams in continuous improvement activities related to visual management, Quality, 5S and other lean concepts; maintain standards to ensure compliance with TL9000 quality requirements • Contribute to the 5S departmental goals by maintaining the cleanliness of the production, shipping and warehouse areas       Education:   High School Diploma or GED required       Experience:   • Over 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with 6 months or more leadership, project leader and/or training experience. • Forklift experience • 1-3 years experience with PC's and associated software (Quality Management Software, SAP & MS Office). • Ability to effectively work individually and in a team environment • Ability to lift up to 50lbs • Attention to detail • Specific knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures related to production and warehousing
