The Duke Energy Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) department is the Design Authority for each of Duke Energy’s six nuclear sites. CDE is responsible for the execution of a fleet portfolio that includes design solutions supporting risk reduction, equipment obsolescence, and plant modernization. The Oconee Nuclear Station (ONS) CDE team manages the capital engineering change portfolio at the ONS site in Seneca, SC. The ONS CDE Electrical Team is seeking to fill the position of Electrical Design Engineer III or Senior Electrical Design Engineer.

Develop the scope, technical basis, installation, and testing requirements for engineering design changes that include but are not limited to AC power systems, DC power systems, Large AC motors, Transformers, Switchgear, Motor Control Centers, Protective Relaying, Voltage Regulators, Breakers, etc. Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity.    Contributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; deals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decision that may affect the work of the team. Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity. Conducts engineering and related studies; completes routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with increasing ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; increasingly competent to design, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systems. Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies.  Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.  Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.  Maintains accurate records and files. Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
