The Opportunity Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Australian Government Defence security clearance at the level required for the position. Join a highly skilled sustainment team supporting a critical Defence aviation capability. We are seeking an experienced Technical officer – Airframe Engine to provide technical analysis, maintenance documentation, airworthiness support, and engineering sustainment services within the UH-60M Helicopter Program Office (UHSPO). This role offers the opportunity to work closely with Defence stakeholders, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), engineering teams, and aviation maintenance specialists to ensure the ongoing safety, reliability, and airworthiness of a complex military aircraft fleet. Responsibilities As part of the UHSPO Sustainment Team, you will be responsible for processing and analysing technical information, developing technical publications and maintenance instructions, and supporting ongoing sustainment programs including Reliability, Condition Monitoring, and Continued Airworthiness activities. You will play a key role in reviewing technical data, investigating defects and occurrences, supporting maintenance program changes, and ensuring technical documentation remains accurate, compliant, and operationally effective.
Key Responsibilities
Review and process technical information and Technical Information Requests (TIRs) within Emerald2. Investigate and manage occurrence reports in collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams. Convert OEM service bulletins and US Army safety messages into ADF-compliant technical instructions. Liaise with OEMs and US Army stakeholders to obtain and interpret technical advice. Analyse defect reports and recommend corrective actions. Support condition monitoring programs, including: Vibration analysis Spectrometric Oil Analysis Integrated Vehicle Health Management System (IVHMS) data review Provide technical advice and support to the Military Air Operator. Review externally approved repairs and convert repair instructions into ADF-compliant documentation. Collaborate with maintenance requirements determination (MRD) practitioners on changes to maintenance schedules, aircraft build structures, and ACRN sets. Develop and publish non-standard maintenance instructions and Letters of Authority. Author and update maintenance publication content while working closely with technical publications teams. Support logistics teams by assessing alternative sources of supply and sustainment solutions. Assist Design Engineers with Supplies Acceptance activities for externally approved designs. Provide technical advice relating to Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Special Purpose Test Equipment (S&TE). Conduct peer reviews and approvals of technical decisions and Emerald2 records. Support ALSE, Role Equipment, and PED clearance activities.
About You
You are a technically capable aviation professional with strong maintenance and sustainment experience, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for supporting safe and effective aircraft operations. Essential Requirements Certificate IV or higher qualification in a relevant discipline, preferably Aeroskills Mechanical or equivalent. Demonstrated experience using CAMM2 . Significant experience within aviation maintenance environments. Strong technical analysis and problem-solving capability. Experience interpreting technical data and translating requirements into practical maintenance outcomes. Well-developed skills across Microsoft Office and relevant technical systems and applications. Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality technical documentation. Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, maintenance, logistics, and operational stakeholders. Desirable Experience Experience within aviation quality and logistics environments. Experience working within a Defence System
