Internship - AI-assisted Test & Measurement Automation

The student, as part of the Electrical Failure Analysis (EFA) team and under the guidance of an assigned mentor, will undertake projects working on Infineon's flagship TriCore-based Automotive Micro-controllers.

Key responsibilities in your new role Bench Measurement Automation: Automate bench measurements using software and AI tools. Lab Instrument Integration: Work with engineers to connect lab instruments, collect and analyze measurement data, and develop workflows that make testing faster and more repeatable. Model Evaluation & Validation: Evaluate and validate models and document the result, risk and limitations. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive knowledge sharing through documentation and demos. Internship Learning Outcomes: Team & Domain Context: Understand the set-up of the EFA team in the semiconductor company. Measurement Fundamentals: Gain hands-on proficiency with bench instruments (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, analyzers, probes) and measurement fundamentals such as accuracy, resolution, calibration, and uncertainty. Automated Data Acquisition: Build automated data acquisition pipelines — logging, structuring, and storing measurement data. AI in Measurement Context: Understand the limitations and validation requirements of AI in a measurement context (correlating automated vs. manual results). Failure Analysis Exposure: Understand the failure analysis / device characterization workflow.

Qualifications and skills to help you succeed Education: E lectrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science. ML/DL Fundamentals: Solid foundation in machine learning/deep learning fundamentals. GenAI & Agentic AI Knowledge: Understanding of GenAI/LLMs (prompt engineering, embeddings, RAG) and related tooling; basic agentic AI concepts. Electronics Background: Understanding of basic circuit components and ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams.
