Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS ) has an exciting opportunity for a Human Engineer to join our Human Engineering team in Everett, WA, working in our Mobility, Surveillance, and Bombers portfolio.
Position
Responsibilities : Apply Human Engineering knowledge and principles to the analysis, design, and evaluation of complex systems Define system performance requirements to ensure safe and successful human operation of physical, functional, and program interfaces for all system operators Apply human performance principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of complex systems Develop and implement research methodologies and analysis plans to test and evaluate developmental prototypes Apply a knowledge of military standards (such as MIL-STD-1472, MIL-STD-1474, MIL-STD-1787, MIL-STD-3009, MIL-STD-411F) to meet program requirements Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate HE considerations into the overall system design, development, and production Conduct user engagement activities throughout the design process via interviews, focus groups, field studies, etc Occasional business travel and after-hours support may be required This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Final Post-Start is required. This position requires ability to obtain special program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.
Basic Qualifications
(Required Skills & Experience): Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Cognitive Psychology or other Human Engineering related field of study. (Level 3 - Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience or Master’s and 3+ years ) 1+ years of work experience in Human Engineering or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience): Level 2- Bachelor and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience Level 3- Bachelor and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience Level 4- Bachelor and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience Associate Certification from Board Certification in Professional Ergonomics or equivalent education Understanding of Human System Integration (HSI) in the defense acquisition process Knowledge of military standards (such as MIL-STL-1472, MIL-STD-1474, MIL-STD-2525, MIL-STD-1787, MIL-STD-3009, MIL-STD 411F, DoDI 5000.95, and JSSG-2010) Ability to derive Human Engineering requirements Experience supporting defense programs Experience in program documentation of the HE processes and products in a format consistent with US Military Data Item Descriptions (e.g. Human Engineering Program Plan, Human Engineering Design Approach Document – Operator, Human Engineering Design Approach Document – Maintainer, Human Engineering Test Plan, Human Engineering Test Report, et. al) Experience with the user interface software prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Axure RP). Experience with Usability software Knowledge in Human Perception and Cognition Experience with Human Performance Modeling Experience in workload assessments and situation awareness
