Role Overview
As CHAOS continues to transition from R&D into rate production, we are splitting corporate planning into two peer finance verticals: FP&A and Program Finance, both reporting to the VP of Finance. The Head of FP&A will lead the corporate planning lane, the long-range model, scenario planning, the company-wide forecast process, and the board and investor materials.
This is a seat for someone who owns the last mile and delivers the model, the story, and the “so what” in board-ready form. You will lead the existing FP&A team, own our Datarails reporting platform, and partner with the Head of Program Finance, whose program cost forecasts feed your consolidated company plan.
Responsibilities
• Own the corporate long-range financial model and scenario planning including revenue, opex, headcount, cash, and funding scenarios, as the company scales into production.
• Produce board, investor, and executive ready output end to end: analysis, synthesis, narrative, and talking points.
• Run the company-wide forecast and annual planning process and calendar.
• Build and scale the department finance-partnering model as the company grows, organizing coverage into functional portfolios with named finance partners.
• Own the Datarails reporting platform strategy, architecture, dimensions, data feeds, and self-serve reporting
• Consolidate the company plan, integrating program-level cost forecasts and rate assumptions from Program Finance.
• Partner with the Growth team and Program Finance on pricing and deal modeling including deal-level economics, pricing scenarios, and margin analysis.
• Support capital strategy and fundraising: scenario models, sources and uses, and investor-facing financial materials.
• Manage, develop, and grow the FP&A team as the function scales.
• Travel: minimal; occasional travel to other CHAOS offices.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or another related field, or equivalent work experience; advanced degree (MBA/Master’s) or equivalent work experience preferred for this level.
• Led an FP&A function (or been the clear #2) at a high-growth company through a stage transition e.g., from R&D to production, or through a major growth round.
• Built board and investor materials end to end, not just the model, but the narrative and recommendations presented to a board or executive team.
• Designed and owned long-range financial models and scenario frameworks covering revenue, opex, cash, and funding needs.
• Run a company-wide annual planning and rolling forecast process across multiple budget owners.
• Implemented or administered a corporate planning platform (e.g., Datarails, Anaplan, Adaptive, Pigment), including data architecture and reporting design..
• Managed and developed direct reports.
Preferred Requirements
• Experience in hardware, manufacturing, aerospace/defense, or another capital-intensive industry with inventory and
