This role is ideal for a maintenance professional or experienced handyperson who enjoys a varied workload, from responding to guest maintenance requests to carrying out preventative maintenance across the hotel and its equipment. About the Role As a Duty Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the hotel's guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities, and operational equipment. You will respond to guest requests in a timely and professional manner while ensuring all hotel assets are maintained to Marriott standards. No two days are the same. One moment you may be repairing a guestroom fixture, and the next you may be servicing equipment, troubleshooting a maintenance issue, or assisting with preventative maintenance projects. Key Responsibilities Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests. Troubleshoot and repair minor plumbing issues, including unclogging drains, plunging toilets, and repairing leaking taps and fixtures. Carry out general maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas. Perform preventative maintenance on tools, equipment, machinery, and building systems. Complete painting, patching, drywall repairs, wood trim repairs, light bulb replacements, and other cosmetic maintenance tasks. Conduct basic repairs on electrical components, switches, outlets, lamps, appliances, televisions, internet devices, and guestroom equipment. Assist with the maintenance of air conditioning, refrigeration, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. Maintain kitchen equipment and support the upkeep of operational assets. Perform repairs and maintenance to external areas, landscaping, and irrigation systems. Monitor and maintain maintenance inventories and request parts and supplies as required. Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and all workplace health and safety requirements. Communicate maintenance activities and outstanding issues effectively with colleagues across shifts. Ensure all work areas are clean, safe, and professionally presented. About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have: Previous experience in hotel maintenance, building maintenance, facilities management, or a similar handyperson/trade environment. General knowledge across multiple maintenance disciplines, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and guest satisfaction. The ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
