Position Specific Description The HR Advisor II partners with employees, leaders, HRCS, Legal, and other stakeholders to provide consultation and support across a variety of HR Compliance programs. While this position primarily supports workplace accommodations and return-to-work services, it also contributes across other HR Compliance functions, including policy administration, regulatory compliance, investigations support, reporting, process improvement, and other compliance initiatives as business needs evolve. The successful candidate combines strong HR consulting, case management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly learn new compliance programs and adapt to changing priorities. This role requires sound judgment, exceptional customer service, and the ability to manage sensitive situations while balancing employee experience, business objectives, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate embraces continuous improvement and leverages technology and AI to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. Job Responsibilities
Responds to employee, leader, and HR partner inquiries regarding HR Compliance policies, procedures, and programs. Supports HR Compliance programs, including workplace accommodations, return-to-work services, background adjudication, drug and alcohol compliance, employment verification, regulatory reporting, and related initiatives. Ensures return-to-work programs for employees returning from medically related absences, ensuring compliance with disability laws. Acts as the primary liaison for leaders regarding next steps for employees' return-to-work plans and medical accommodation requests, providing clear communication and status updates throughout the process. Collaborates closely with HR Operations, Benefits, Legal, Risk Management, and Safety teams to ensure seamless coordination, communication, and integrated service delivery. Engages with multiple business units and various higher-level management levels to promote effective communication, partnership, and compliance across the enterprise. Conducts case research, analyzes information, documents findings, and recommends appropriate resolutions. Maintains accurate documentation and ensures compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations. Participates in audits, reporting, compliance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives. Identifies opportunities to improve processes through automation, AI, and technology. Tracks accommodation metrics and recommends process improvements. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of Human Resources principles, practices, and employment compliance. Preferred knowledge of FMLA, short-term disability (STD), long-term disability (LTD), and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) or disability management certification (CDMS, CCM) Experience in utility, energy, or other regulated industries Familiarity with ADA case law and EEOC guidance Strong customer service, consultation, relationship management, and case management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, think strategically, and meet deadlines. Ability to manage multiple programs and pivot as priorities shift. Strong communication skills providing clear and effective guidance. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, HR systems, case management tools, and reporting platforms. Enthusiasm
