About this role

Citi is seeking a senior sales leader to serve as Director of Trade and Working Capital Sales for the Industrial Sector across North America, driving business growth through strategic client engagement and high-performing team leadership. In this role, you will operate as a player-coach — owning key client relationships and revenue opportunities directly while building and developing a team of sales managers aligned to ambitious targets. Sitting within Citi's Trade and Working Capital business, you will play a critical role in shaping the sales strategy for the industrial sector and delivering measurable commercial outcomes across a complex, matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

Lead the North America Industrial Sector sales function as a player-coach, maintaining direct ownership of high-value client relationships and revenue opportunities while guiding and developing a team of sales managers. Define and deliver the annual sales plan and pipeline goals in partnership with Product Heads, ensuring targets are clearly cascaded and consistently achieved. Build and advance a robust pipeline of client prospects across the industrial sector, identifying opportunities sufficient to meet required business growth objectives. Establish and deepen relationships with key clients and business partners to uncover new mandates, cross-sell opportunities, and long-term revenue potential. Monitor market dynamics, client needs, and economic trends to anticipate shifts and position Citi's trade and working capital solutions competitively. Coordinate across internal teams to ensure the timely, seamless execution of client mandates, maintaining high standards at every client touchpoint including proposals and presentations. Develop sales talent through active coaching, targeted training, and strategic hiring to build a high-performance team culture focused on accountability and delivery. Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Finance functions to uphold governance standards and ensure all business activities meet applicable regulatory and policy requirements.   Required Qualifications & Skills 15 or more years of experience in a sales, client coverage, or commercial banking environment, including 8 to 10 or more years in a people leadership capacity. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate sales teams to achieve aggressive revenue targets in a metrics-driven environment. Track record of operating effectively across cross-cultural and matrixed organizational settings, building alignment across multiple stakeholders and business lines. Experience formulating and executing business strategy across corporate client segments, with a direct impact on commercial outcomes. Strong command of trade finance, working capital, or related financial products, with the ability to engage credibly with senior client stakeholders. Ability to assess commercial risk and reward in business decision-making, with sound judgment in applying governance and ethical standards. Bachelor's degree or equivalent university-level qualification required.   Beneficial Skills & Qualifications Master's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification in business, finance, or a related field. Familiarity with the industrial sector, including key market dynamics, client needs, and competitive landscape across North America. Experience leveraging partnerships, advisory boards, and industry conferences as part of an integrated go-to-market strategy.
