Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Success and Belonging, this role will provide leadership and administration of Student Employment Services (SES) programs and processes for Westchester undergraduate and graduate student employment on and off campus. Ensure execution of strategic direction of the SES services. Maintain compliance in accordance with federal, state and university regulations, while identifying, responding to, and resolving issues as they arise. Create infrastructure and protocols to ensure efficiencies and responsiveness to students, on-campus supervisors, off-campus partners, and all other stakeholders.
Job Description
Provide leadership and strategic direction for Student Employment Services (SES) to ensure high-quality service and business operations. Provide direct supervision for professional staff within Student Employment Services (SES), including the Assistant Director of Student Employment Services, the Student Worker Program Coordinator, and Student Employment Specialist. Provide indirect supervision for student employees, including students participating in the Student Worker Program. Provide leadership and functional support for SES staff in the administration of student employment programs, events and training workshops for undergraduates/graduate students and their supervisors. Provide guidance to ensure consistent delivery of services and timely response to and resolution of issues as appropriate. Provide leadership for the Job Locator and Developer (JLD) program as part of the Federal Work Study program. Ensure that the administration, management, tracking and overall impact of the program are compliant and meet exemplary standards for the university and the federal government. Develop strong working relationships with campus partners and external stakeholders to develop and strengthen student work opportunities. Develop an implementation plan to ensure the integration of the Student Employment Learning Outcomes within all on-campus work experiences. Provide leadership for the design and implementation of initiatives to promote leadership and other professional development among student employees. Develop a communication plan for Student Employment Services (SES) to help promote its programs and services. Support professional staff in the development of strong communication skills, customer service, and internal and external relationship building. Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state laws and university policies and procedures to ensure that all student employment processes are accurate, compliant and relevant. Conduct a regular audit of all policies, protocols, practices and procedures as they pertain to Student Employment Services (SES). Maintain and update fiscal records, procedures and other information used by Student Employment Services (SES) to prepare weekly, monthly and annual reports. Maintain record keeping and provide statistical information in compliance with Federal Work Study reporting guidelines. Compile statistical information in response to departmental and divisional reporting requests, audit needs and federal reporting requirements. Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations pertaining to student employment federal work study earnings, tax treaties, and international student visas. Collaborate with appropriate offices including but not limited to Human Resources, Payroll, Controller’s Office, supervisors, Budget Managers, Financial Aid, and Information Technology Services (ITS). In consultation with HR and ITS, utilize, identify and develop Workday HCM functions and reports that enhance the delivery of SES services and the overall effectiveness of the department. Will also troubleshoot and conduct testing of fixes or enhancements of business process, functions and reports within Workday.
