Manager Operations, Fulfillment & Operations Management

Amazon's MEX1 Fulfillment Center in Mexico City seeks a frontline Operations Manager to lead a team in our Outbound area the part of the warehouse where customer orders are packed, sorted, and shipped. You will supervise a team of 30-80+ hourly warehouse associates, drive daily productivity and quality targets, and ensure every package leaves the building safely, accurately, and on time. This role operates in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where hands-on leadership, clear communication, and a commitment to continuous improvement are critical to success. Key job responsibilities - Safety & compliance: Own your team's safety culture. Conduct daily safety walks, ensure all associates follow personal protective equipment and ergonomic standards, and address hazards immediately. Lead initiatives to reduce product damage and shipping defects. - Shift management: Plan and assign work across your team to meet daily volume targets and shipping deadlines. Monitor real-time performance dashboards, adjust staffing levels, and reassign resources to close productivity gaps during your shift. - Quality assurance: Audit packing accuracy, labeling compliance, and truck-loading standards. When defects arise, identify the root cause and implement corrective actions on the same shift. - People leadership:Supervise, coach, and develop a team of hourly warehouse associates. Manage attendance, schedules, and timesheets. Conduct regular one-on-one conversations focused on strengths, development goals, and career growth. - Hiring & onboarding: Participate in recruiting and interviewing to build a high-performing team. Design onboarding plans that accelerate new hires' learning and integration. - Communication: Run daily pre-shift meetings to align the team on priorities and safety reminders. Write clear shift-handoff reports and present operational updates to senior leadership. - Process improvement: Identify opportunities to improve tools, workflows, and standard operating procedures. Participate in structured problem-solving events to eliminate waste and improve efficiency. - Cross-functional collaboration:Coordinate with receiving, inventory control, and transportation teams to ensure a smooth end-to-end order fulfillment flow. A day in the life You start your shift by reviewing the daily plan: expected order volume, available headcount, and shipping deadlines. In a quick pre-shift meeting you align your team on priorities, safety reminders, and quality focus areas. Throughout the shift you walk the warehouse floor observing packing stations, checking throughput, and coaching associates in real time. When a shipping deadline is at risk, you reallocate labor, remove bottlenecks, and communicate the recovery plan to your manager. You hold brief one-on-one conversations with associates about their performance and growth. At the end of the shift you hand off key metrics and open issues to the incoming manager. Your key stakeholders are the associates on your team, the senior manager you report to, and the downstream transportation network that depends on accurate, on-time shipments.
