This is a temporary position. The HIM Specialist will have understanding of HIPPA compliance, medical terminology, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. The HIM Specialist will play a vital role in managing, organizing, and analyzing medical records and other documentation related tasks.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities: Ensure accurate and complete documentation to include organizing, analyzing, indexing, and maintaining medical records within required timeframes. Reporting and tracking of deficient documentation to assist a multidisciplinary team in maintaining compliance rates and ensuring documentation contains required elements. Review provider documentation at admission for accuracy and finalization to ensure signatures are obtained and documentation is on the medical record within the required timeframe. Compile multidisciplinary reports into formal treatment teams and correspond with identified external individuals/organizations for retrieval of completed reports. Compile multidisciplinary reports into formal discharge summary and ensure signatures are obtained within the required timeframe. Data entry. Sorting, filing, indexing loose paperwork. Processing release of information requests and maintaining consent forms to ensure HIPPA compliance throughout admission. Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
Qualifications
High School Diploma required, Associates or Bachelors Degree Preferred 1-3 years of relevant experience required; 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required Must consistently exhibit mental and emotional ability to understand and perform the essential functions of the job Cumberland Hospital is a drug-free and alcohol-free workplace. Pay: Hourly (bi-weekly) and is commensurate with education and experience. A pre-hire drug screen, pre-hire background checks, and education verification are required of new employees.
