About this role

The future of aerospace and defense starts here.

Ursa Major was founded to revolutionize how America and its allies access and apply high-performance propulsion, from hypersonics to solid rocket motors, satellite maneuvering and launch. We design and deliver propulsion and defense systems that solve the most urgent and critical national security demands.

Master technicians are expected to lead with knowledge, experience, and grit. Master technicians will be part of the team that will continue to develop the most advanced propulsion systems in the world. A large amount of collaboration with several Engineering and Manufacturing disciplines supporting both production and development programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute complex assembly, integration, test, and troubleshooting activities across development and production programs.

• Apply advanced technical knowledge and hands-on expertise to solve complex, ambiguous, and non-routine problems with limited direction.

• Support the development, assembly, integration, and test of a broad range of aerospace hardware, including space vehicles, solid rocket motors, liquid propulsion systems, in-space systems, GSE, and associated components.

• Serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert, providing guidance, mentorship, and hands-on support to technicians, engineers, and other team members.

• Develop and implement practical solutions for complex manufacturing, assembly, test, tooling, and equipment challenges.

• Lead complex test activities, including proof testing, acceptance testing, component testing, and system-level test support.

• Support the design, fabrication, modification, and implementation of tooling, fixtures, and GSE as required to enable development and production activities.

• Identify and resolve technical, process, and execution challenges while maintaining a high standard of safety, quality, and workmanship.

• Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Operations to drive successful execution of complex programs.

• Adapt to changing priorities and take ownership of whatever technical challenges are necessary to achieve program and organizational objectives.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• Extensive hands-on experience in aerospace, propulsion, manufacturing, assembly, integration, or test.

• Demonstrated mastery of complex mechanical and/or fluid systems and the ability to apply that knowledge to unfamiliar technical challenges.

• Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot complex problems and develop effective solutions.

• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, models, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.

• Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to mentor and develop others.

• Strong communication, judgment, and decision-making skills.

• Ability to work effectively in both development and production environments with minimal direction.

• Ability to safely operate and work around applicable manufacturing, test, material-handling, and support equipment.

• Ability and willingness to travel to customer and test sites as required.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with solid rocket motors, liquid propulsion systems, spacecraft, or in-space systems.

• Experience with complex component and system-level testing.

• Experience with GSE, tooling, fixtures, or test equipment.

• Machining, fabrication, or CNC experience.

• GD&T knowledge.

• Experience with precision measurement
