Government Affairs and Public Policy Senior Manager (English, Spanish)

As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. As a Senior Manager for Government Affairs and Public Policy for Mexico and Central America, you will lead Google’s public policy, regulatory advocacy, and government relations across a dynamic and fast-growing region. In this senior individual contributor role, you will hold end-to-end ownership over critical, cutting-edge policy domains—such as AI, cloud, copyright and digital safety, among others — while advising senior leadership on emerging political and regulatory landscapes. You will leverage your deep political expertise to lead proactive policy campaigns, build cross-sector coalitions, and execute high-value government partnerships. You will be a creative, high-energy self-initiator with visionary ambition—someone who thrives in ambiguity, bridges public policy with business priorities, and seamlessly aligns matrixed teams to turn complex challenges into shared opportunities. Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

Scope, prioritize, and drive Google’s public policy agenda and proactive government relations strategy in Mexico, anticipating emerging policy challenges and opportunities and developing innovative solutions to address them. Build and strengthen relationships with government officials, regulators, policymakers and industry associations. Lead direct engagement and advocacy on complex regulatory files with the federal government, and regulatory agencies on a wide range of digital and tech policy matters impacting our products, business, users and the ecosystem. Advise senior business executives and cross-functional leadership on political dynamics, regulatory risk, and strategic opportunities, translating complex political trends into actionable corporate strategy. Conceptualize, negotiate, and execute strategic, high-value partnerships with government, trade industry and academic institutions to position Google as an essential partner in Mexico's digital transformation.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 14 years of experience working with or in government, think tanks, public interest groups, industry groups, or corporate public policy organizations. Experience with the Mexican political system, legislative processes, regulatory landscape, and government decision-makers. Experience in technology policy issues. Ability to communicate in English and Spanish fluently to engage with local stakeholders. Preferred qualifications: Experience in government affairs and public policy in Central America.
