Summary
Section The Quality Inspector – Equipment role is a senior quality assurance position responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications throughout the manufacturing and inspection lifecycle of static process equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, rotating equipment, and associated systems.
Responsibilities
Provide technical guidance on quality, welding, and NDE requirements for process equipment. Review vendor technical proposals to ensure compliance with project and quality requirements. Lead supplier qualification assessments, audits, and evaluations. Conduct pre-inspection meetings with suppliers and stakeholders. Review and approve quality documents, including ITPs, welding procedures, weld records, PWHT procedures, NDE procedures, and testing documentation. Perform and oversee shop inspections in accordance with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs). Coordinate Third-Party Inspection (TPI) activities and review inspection reports prior to release. Develop Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) checklists based on project specifications and lessons learned. Interface effectively with suppliers, clients, engineering, procurement, and project teams on quality-related matters. Drive continuous improvement initiatives through the development of quality processes, tools, and best practices. Qualifications including Required Education, Experience, & Skills: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution. 10 to 15 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a reputable organization. Strong experience in pressure vessel fabrication and inspection in accordance with ASME, EN, and other international codes and standards. Proven experience with ASME Code-stamped equipment and fabrication quality control. In-depth knowledge of welding, NDE, heat treatment, pressure testing, final inspection, and quality documentation. Experience in inspection and quality control of raw materials, fabrication processes, final product acceptance, and manufacturing records. Familiarity with materials such as low-alloy steels, stainless steels, and nickel-based alloys including Inconel. Experience in witnessing and validating Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and associated auxiliary systems. Experience in witnessing and validating Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for control valves, instrumentation systems, and related automation equipment to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable standards. Sound understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements. Proficiency in Refractory and Painting Inspection Requirements will be preferred. Exposure to KBR technology static equipment’s is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Education, Experience, & Skills: Mandatory: ASNT Level II certifications in: PT (Liquid Penetrant Testing) MT (Magnetic Particle Testing) RT (Radiographic Testing) UT (Ultrasonic Testing) Preferred: CSWIP or equivalent welding certification.
