Morgan Stanley's Global Regulatory Relations Group (GRRG) is seeking a Global Discovery Counsel Associate. This team is responsible for strategic and centralized management of the supervisory activities of Morgan Stanley's regulators and related developments globally, with a focus on regulatory reviews and examinations and continuous monitoring activities. GRRG serves as the central point of contact for the regulatory staff responsible for supervisory activities at Morgan Stanley entities and for timely reporting to Firm management and other governance or management bodies, as appropriate, on those relationships and supervisory processes, including areas of significant regulatory focus or concern. The Global Compliance Department identifies applicable Compliance Obligations and maintains a Firmwide Compliance Risk management program, including Compliance Risks that transcend business lines, legal entities, and jurisdictions of operation. In the Legal and Compliance Division (LCD) we provide a wide range of services for our business units. They might help to structure a complex and sensitive cross-border transaction; advise on a new product introduction; develop a training program or defuse an investor dispute. They preserve the firm's invaluable reputation for integrity and protect the firm from sanctions with policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements around the world. They also strive to maintain cooperative relationships with governmental policy makers and the regulatory and self-regulatory agencies that govern the firm's businesses. What you will do in the role: The GDC Associate will be part of a team of legal professionals supporting Litigation and others in LCD in connection with discovery, data preservation and data governance in support of the Firm's discovery and record keeping obligations. Coordination with global teams including Business Units, Litigation, Technology, and Management to gather information and respond to ad hoc questions. Coordination with external parties such as Outside Counsel and Vendors Reporting to stakeholders relating to personal device matters, records disposition projects, vendor issues and projects involving electronic communications. Interaction and coordination within LCD to ensure appropriate execution of the Firm's enterprise-wide initiatives and programs. Provides operational support for evolving programs and special projects. What you will bring to the role: Graduate or post-graduate 3+ years of experience Solid track record working in a professional environment Basic understanding of legal documents and legal terminology Basic understanding of US Law and procedure Comfortable with technology and can learn new technical systems and programs. Open to learning different Artificial Intelligence tools and workflows Knowledge of other reporting tools, e.g., BOXI an added advantage Team player who is very detail-oriented and can successfully manage multiple projects and competing priorities Excellent verbal and written English communication skills - ability to effectively correspond with various groups and senior professionals over email and the telephone Ability to anticipate and escalate issues as appropriate Strong pragmatic and analytical skills - candidate needs to be able to connect the dots and consistently apply sound judgment Must be able to maintain a high level of organization under pressure Completes daily tasks or projects with little need for direct supervision Successfully meets established deadlines - displays efficient time management skills Possess the ability to research and resolve issues independently Ability to identify and recommend process efficiencies Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues across
