About this role
THE POSITION Our roster has an opening with your name on it
The Commercial Analyst will work closely with the Commercial Analytics Manager to deliver insights on online Racing market dynamics, competitive trends, and business performance which will drive strategic decision-making. This role sits within the Commercial Analytics team, which owns forecasting, budgeting, analytics, and reporting for the Racing/Sports BU, building on the team's governed data pipelines (Python, SQL, Databricks). You'll play alongside cross-functional partners across Marketing, Product, Growth, Media, Partnerships, VIP, Finance, and more, turning a wide field of information sources into clear, actionable perspectives that keep FanDuel out front in a highly competitive market.
In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.
THE GAME PLAN Everyone on our team has a part to play
• Own and evolve recurring performance reporting for leadership; weekly/monthly deep dives and executive-ready summaries — automating production so time goes into the analysis
• Analyze marketing and promo efficiency — cohort targeting, spend allocation, and campaign performance
• Support the team’s commercial forecasting and budgeting process, translating analytics, strategy, and market signals into forecast assumptions and helping explain plan-to-actual variance.
• Partner with Product to assess the pre- and post-launch impact of product changes, layering in how customer KPIs respond.
• Partner cross-functionally with teams such as Product, Marketing, Strategy, Finance, and Analytics to connect external market insights with internal performance and strategic initiatives
• Support the team’s share-of-wallet reporting and external data partnerships, helping size competitive position in a way leadership can act on
• Support strategic and competitive assessments through structured analysis and scenario thinking
• Translate complex data and analyses into clear narratives and recommendations, tailored to senior stakeholders and decision-makers
• Help build and maintain scalable self-service tools and dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Databricks) that improve access to external insights across the organization, and contribute to the team’s reusable, AI-assisted workflows for reporting and ad hoc analysis
THE STATS What we're looking for in our next teammate
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a numerate field (business, math, stats, econ, finance, etc.)
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience in analytics, business strategy, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to work with external, imperfect, or lagged data sources, synthesize multiple inputs, and develop a coherent point of view
• Comfort building structured analyses, models, or frameworks
• Experience building presentations and delivering them to senior members of a team
• Strong analytical toolkit, including SQL, Excel, and AI; comfort with Python and cloud data platforms (e.g., Databricks) is increasingly valuable, and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) is a plus
• Intellectual curiosity, comfort with ambiguity, and a desire to understand how industries and markets evolve over time
• Comfort working in a small, fast-moving analytics team that owns its work end to end, from pulling raw data to presenting the recommendation
• Interest in sports, gaming, or digital consumer businesses is a plus
