About Betterment
Betterment is a leading, technology-driven financial services company that offers investing, savings and retirement solutions for retail investors and investment advisors as well as financial wellness solutions, including a 401(k) for small and medium-sized businesses. Our team is passionate about our mission, to empower people to build wealth with confidence and ease. We’re headquartered in NYC and offer hybrid NY-based positions (four days/ week in-office, with no required office days during the summer and winter holidays).
About the Role
Betterment is hiring a Social Media & Content Associate to support the execution of our organic social strategy across three lines of businesses (Betterment, Betterment at Work, and Betterment Advisors Solutions) and help scale how we show up across platforms. This role sits on the Brand Creative team, reporting into the Social Media Manager. We play a key role in shaping the Betterment brand and product story, translating complex financial topics into clear, engaging content that builds trust and long-term brand equity.
As a Social Media Associate, you will play a key role in bringing our content calendar to life. You’ll focus on drafting, creating and publishing content, routing posts through compliance and approval workflows, maintaining documentation, and monitoring performance. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience using design and editing tools, who is creative and able to help make complex financial topics and product launches engaging.
This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.
• New York City: $89,000 - $99,500
This job may also be eligible for variable compensation in the form of a company incentive bonus.
A Day in the Life
• We make content about money and have a lot of fun doing it. You’ll help us tell the stories behind our products, our people, and why financial confidence should be accessible to everyone.
• Drive day-to-day workflow for the creation of posts, including drafting copy, coordinating or creating creative assets, editing, shooting, routing content for reviews and approvals, and maintaining accurate compliance documentation.
• Schedule and publish content using social management tools, ensuring tagging, accessibility standards, and compliance requirements are met.
• Monitor engagement and comments across channels, flagging audience questions, trends, or potential risks by responding directly or routing to the appropriate team.
• Pull weekly and monthly performance metrics to contribute to reporting and optimization efforts.
• Partnering with Marketing, Creative, and Comms, assist in packaging product launches, research, and marketing initiatives into social-ready formats including product explainers and social first stories.
• Contribute ideas during brainstorms and support timely content tied to market events, and key brand moments.
• Stay up-to-date on social trends to identify opportunities and know when to be bold (but also when to be…demure).
What We're Looking For
• 2-3 years of experience in social media, digital marketing, or content creation; experience in financial services or other regulated industries is a plus.
• Established ability to manage day-to-day publishing across corporate social channels.
• Experience with social video, including short-form video creation and platform-native best practices.
• Excellent
