Join our dynamic Infectious Disease Team located in San Diego, California, as a Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS). The Manager, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) serves as the site leader responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving Environmental, Health, Safety, and Occupational Health programs for a research and development facility. This role provides strategic direction and technical expertise to ensure regulatory compliance, protect employees and the environment, and foster a proactive safety culture that enables innovation and operational excellence. As the site's EHS subject matter expert, the Manager partners with R&D, Facilities, Engineering, and corporate functions to identify and mitigate risks, support business objectives, and ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and corporate standards. This is a 100% on-site role. What You’ll Work On   Lead all site EHS programs, policies, and management systems to ensure regulatory compliance and effective risk management. Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, auditors, and corporate EHS teams. Manage environmental permitting, reporting, inspections, audits, and regulatory submissions. Develop and execute the site's EHS strategy, objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with business goals. Conduct risk assessments and provide EHS support for laboratory operations, process changes, facility modifications, capital projects, and new equipment installations. Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and environmental events; perform root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions. Develop and deliver EHS training programs that promote employee awareness, regulatory compliance, and a strong culture of safety. Monitor emerging regulations, industry trends, and best practices, evaluating potential impacts to site operations. Establish and track EHS performance metrics and communicate results and recommendations to site leadership. Ensure site procedures, emergency preparedness plans, and EHS documentation remain accurate, effective, and audit ready. Influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into operational and business decisions. Serve as a trained
